DVM, CCRT, cVMA, Co-owner Dr. Kelsey Schroeder was raised in Manhattan, Kansas. She attended Kansas State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Following her graduation, she completed a rotating small animal internship in Tucson, AZ with Dr. Davies before settling in Denver, where she has been practicing for the last decade. Dr. Schroeder started her career in Denver working in general practice and urgent care. Over time, she developed a strong interest in dentistry and a passion for enhancing her patients' mobility and managing their pain, particularly among senior patients. This passion prompted her to pursue certifications as a Certified Canine Rehab Therapist and a Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist. In 2021, she established her own mobile rehabilitation and acupuncture service. Dr. Schroeder is excited to be able to combine her various skills and expertise to provide comprehensive care to her patients at The Neighborhood Vets. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Schroeder finds joy in spending time outdoors, running, hiking, camping, and playing softball. She also cherishes spending quality time with her friends, family, her dogs, Wrigley and Nolan, and her cat, Miss Alley Tibbles. DVM, Co-owner Dr. Kelsey Davies grew up in southeastern Michigan, then moved to Seattle, WA to attend the University of Washington where she obtained her BS degree in biology. She returned to the Midwest to do graduate work in public health before obtaining her DVM degree from The Ohio State University. After graduation, Dr. Davies completed a one-year rotating internship with Dr. Schroeder at a specialty hospital in Tucson, AZ. Since that time, Dr. Davies has worked predominantly in small animal private practice, with some experiences in emergency, urgent care, and wildlife medicine mixed in throughout the years. Dr. Davies enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, but is especially interested in helping overweight pets and guiding owners with specific nutritional plans. Her goal is to keep pets healthy and active from their kitten/puppy years through to their senior years. She is also certified in Low Stress Handling. Dr. Davies currently has two kitties, Nym and Ernest, who spend much of their time sunbathing and bird watching. Outside of work, Dr. Davies enjoys spending time hiking in the mountains, reading, and cooking. DVM, Co-owner Dr. Sarah Engmark grew up in Jackson Township, Ohio. She received her Bachelor's degree in Biology at Eastern Michigan University. She then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. She took her first job in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and after a little over a year moved to Colorado to take a position in Denver. Dr. Engmark has worked in small animal medicine with equal time spent in private practice and emergency medicine. She is RECOVER certified for small animal CPR. Dr. Engmark, along with Dr. Schroeder and Dr. Davies purchased The Neighborhood Vets (previously Washington Park Veterinary Clinic) in July of 2024. She is excited to provide elevated and comprehensive medicine to her patients. Dr. Engmark's special interests include minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and senior pet comprehensive care. In her free time you can find her skiing, hiking, reading, or going to the theater. Practice Manager Melinda has been a part of our team since 2012, but has been in veterinary practice management for over 20 years. She is also a registered nurse in the state of Colorado. She has been married for over 30 years and has two sons. She enjoys cooking for her family and traveling in her spare time. Front Office Staff Shannon has been part of our team since 2002 as both a receptionist and technician. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, Lana and Roman (named after WWE wrestler Roman Reigns). She also has a cat named Polanco. She enjoys watching baseball and attending games in her free time, as well as a fun romp at the dog park or hiking Garden of the Gods. You can also find her spending as much time as possible in her "happy place", Estes Park. Registered Veterinary Technician Jessica has been a veterinary technician at our clinic since 2020. She is a proud pet mom to two huskies, Eliana and Enzo. Outside of work, Jessica loves exploring new places and trying different restaurants with her husband. She's also an avid movie lover, enjoys attending sporting events, cherishes time with family, and finds peace and adventure in the mountains. Registered Veterinary Technician Brittany is from Parker, Arizona, and relocated to Denver to pursue her studies at Bel-Rea, where she trained to be a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has been living in Colorado ever since. With 25 years of experience in the Denver veterinary community, she takes pleasure in helping people care for their pets. In her free time, she loves watching football, particularly the Denver Broncos, and gardening. Veterinary Assistant Maya has worked in veterinary medicine since 2016 and has always known it is her passion. She is certified in low-stress handling and is dedicated to helping patients feel as comfortable as possible during their visits. Originally from southern Texas, Maya now enjoys spending her weekends in the mountains. In her free time, she enjoys reading, creating art, and tiring out her dog, Laurel. She also shares her home with two cats, Bazil and Juniper, and several fish tanks. Registered Veterinary Technician Viki has lived in Colorado since 2016, and has been in vet med since 2018. She graduated from the Community College of Denver vet tech program in 2021, and became licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2022. She has experience in general practice, emergency, and exotic animal medicine, and strives to treat and love each patient she sees as if they were her own. When not working, she loves reading (mostly on cruise ships), going to Broadway shows, and spending time with her best friend and the animals in the house: Chloe, and orange tabby cat, Edgar and Sebastian, the guinea pigs, and Willow, the wild child German Shorthair Pointer mix.Our Doctors
